Driven by energy conservation in the early 1990's, the window and door industry in the Western United States shifted from aluminum frames to those made of PVC (vinyl).  The aluminum frames transfer heat very quickly and are, therefore, less energy efficient than Vinyl.  The only available colors offered in the new vinyl products from the manufacturer are White or Tan.

The reason for this limited range of colors is due to heat build-up in the vinyl, when darker colors were produced.  This heat build-up caused the Vinyl to soften and lose dimensional integrity.
